
Shannon
Nursery School is a cooperative nursery school that was established
in 1963 and welcomes children of all races and religions.
Shannon is a nonprofit organization that is administered by
a parents board of directors. The daily program is under the
guidance of qualified nursery school directors with participation
parents assisting.

Leslie McAlavey:
Leslie was born and raised in San Jose. She has a degree in Human Development with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Cal Poly. After graduation, she stayed in San Luis Obispo and worked at the on-campus child care center before returning to the Bay Area in 1994. She worked at the child care center for Apple Computer until 1998, when she took a break from full time work to get married and start a family. Leslie joined Shannon Nursery School in 2004. She is married and has a son and a daughter.

Janell Wilcox
Janell was born and raised in the Los Gatos mountains. She completed her early childhood education at West Valley College. After finishing school she worked full time as a preschool teacher in Santa Cruz. In 1992 she got married and started a family. After joining a co-op with her son, she realized how much she enjoyed being part of the co-op experience. In 2003, when her daughter was ready to start preschool, Shannon was looking for a teacher, so they started school together. She is married and has two children.

Rebecca Curran:
Rebecca Curran was raised in Los Altos and moved to the Santa Cruz mountains in 1996. She has a degree in Child Development from San Jose State University. She taught at a preschool in Los Gatos before taking some time off to be at home with her family. She is married with 3 children.
